Laos, Vietnam agree to join forces on road to development

Laos and Vietnam have agreed to bolster their cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further support each other on the road to development, during an official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.

Mr Thongloun is visiting Vietnam from October 1-3 in response to an invitation from his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
During the visit, the two prime ministers witnessed the signing of eight cooperation documents. The visit takes place as Laos and Vietnam are enjoying strengthened relations and cooperation.
The two sides agreed to continue to promote and enhance the effectiveness of economic, cultural, and science and technology cooperation to fulfil the potential of each country.
They also plan to ensure the implementation of previous agreements signed by senior leaders, as well as other documents and cooperation plans drawn up between the two governments.
There will be a focus on implementation and measures to ensure the progress and quality of Vietnamese investment projects in Laos as well as other bilateral projects.
The two countries greatly appreciate their recent bilateral trade cooperation and are united in promoting, extending and enhancing cooperation as well as increasing value-added trade.
