New chief appointed at Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism

The Secretary General of the Party Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Mr Bounnhang Vorachit, and Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith on Wednesday appointed the Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda Training Board, Prof. Dr Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, as Acting Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, following the retirement of Prof. Dr Bosengkham Vongdara.  
The ministry announced the appointment at the National Culture Hall where a signing ceremony between Prof. Dr Kikeo and Prof. Dr Bosengkham took place to hand over the post.
 Prof. Dr Kikeo will be known as the Acting Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism until his appointment is approved by the National Assembly next month.
The position handover was attended by members of the Politburo Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Vice President of the Lao PDR Phankham Viphavanh, deputy ministers, government delegations and senior officials from the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism. 
The appointment comes in the wake of the retirement of several other leading government officials.
Prof. Dr Kikeo said he would use all of his knowledge and skills to continue leading and developing the ministry while forging stronger international links.
The government acknowledged Prof. Dr Bosengkham’s efforts in leading the ministry and his contribution to socio-economic development, and wished him well in retirement.
Mr Phankham said the new minister hoped to continue to work with his predecessor to benefit from his experience.
Politburo members were confident the new minister would be successful in his new role and continue the steady development of the sector, he added.
