Vietnam police provide medical supplies to combat Covid-19
The Dien Bien Provincial Police Department of Vietnam has donated medical supplies to police offices in six northern provinces of Lao to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19.
The items were handed over recently by representatives of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department to the Deputy Head of Oudomxay province’s Public Security Department, Lieutenant Colonel Somephet Sonedala, according to Lao Security News.
The supplies comprised 12 cartons of face masks, 12 cartons of sanitisers and 600 boxes of noodles. The goods were distributed among the police departments of Phonsaly, Oudomxay, Luang Namtha, Bokeo, Xayaboury and Luang Prabang provinces.
During the handing over of the items, Lieutenant Colonel Somephet thanked the government of Vientam, especially the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department, for its assistance and for providing the valuable supplies to the police offices in six provinces.
This month, Vietnam sent medical experts and medical equipment to help Laos fight Covid-19. Recently, the Vietnamese government delivered medical supplies worth more than 2 billion kip (more than US$300,000) to assist Laos’ efforts to prevent and control the spread of the Coronavirus.
These supplies included 330,000 face masks, 1,000 sets of protective clothing and other essential medical equipment.
Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense also sent medical experts and medical equipment worth more than 1 billion kip (VND 3 billion) to Laos to help prevent and control the spread of Covid-19.
These supplies included 100,000 cloth face masks, 30,000 medical face masks, 2,000 pieces of protective clothing, 5,000 bottles of dry antiseptic solution, and 500 kg of chlorine for disinfection. Most of the equipment was made-in-Vietnam products currently in high demand throughout the country.
The Vietnamese experts and officials will share their experiences and lessons with Lao partners to fight the Coronavirus.
