| Lao Front prepares to mark 69th anniversary The  Lao Front for National Development has revealed plans to celebrate its upcoming  69th anniversary on August 13, with various activities set to mark the event.Vice President of the Lao Front, Mr Chanthavong  Seneamatmonty, outlined the planned activities at a press conference on  Wednesday.
 Mr Chanthavong urged the media to actively promote  events and activities related to the Lao Front for National Development  (LFND)’s history and its work, as well as the upcoming celebration.
 Mr Chanthavong, who is a member of the organising  committee, detailed the activities planned to mark the anniversary.
 These include talks on events of historical importance  for community leaders in districts across the country, as well as sports  competitions such as football, boxing and petanque.
 He also explained the origins and history of the LFND,  pointing out its vital role in boosting solidarity and mobilising all Lao  people to support the national liberation movement, national defence and  development.
 The Lao Front played a crucial role in unifying the  Lao people and encouraging them to support the revolutionary movement.
 The Lao Front was established on August 13, 1950, when it was known as the Lao Front of Liberty, later  becoming the Lao Front of Patriots. After Laos achieved liberation in 1975, the  organisation was given the name it holds today.
 The Lao Front for National  Development is the face of national unity, socio-political relations and  voluntary unity. It was established to represent the socio-political and  personal wishes of all Lao people, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender,  or age.
 Every year, the Front makes a  special effort to inform the public about its work and achievements and the  ways in which it supports public interests.
